Meet Brad

Brad J. Cascio is a lifelong resident of Hammond, Louisiana, where he proudly serves his community both in and out of the courtroom. A graduate of Holy Ghost Catholic School and St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Brad went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2008. While at SLU, he was an active campus leader, serving as President of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and being crowned Homecoming King in 2008.

Law school didn’t seem like a natural next step for Brad. Growing up in a working class family, graduating college felt like a big enough leap. After working unfulfilling jobs after graduation from SLU, Brad was encouraged by his wife to consider law school. After applying and being accepted, he spent a summer at a large law firm, thinking that was the dream. It wasn’t, he didn’t feel he was helping anyone in a meaningful way. So, Brad took a different path. He drove to the District Attorney’s office in Amite, unannounced, and asked to speak with Mr. Scott Perrilloux. After a long wait, he agreed to meet Brad. Brad was given the opportunity to work, unpaid, in the District Attorney’s Office while completing law school.

Brad would go on to earn his Juris Doctor from LSU Law School in 2013 and has served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District since November of that year. In that role, Brad has prosecuted more than 4,000 cases and currently handles felony, juvenile, and Department of Children and Family Services cases. It’s more than a job for Brad, it’s his calling and he fights tirelessly to get justice for victims and their families. He has secured multiple life sentences and successfully argued for the physical castration of a sex offender, the only one ever done in Louisiana.

In addition to his work as an ADA, he serves as City Prosecutor for Denham Springs and French Settlement, and represents various other governmental agencies as legal counsel. Brad is deeply involved in community service, sitting on the boards of the Capital Area Law Enforcement Planning Commission and the Tangipahoa Council on Aging. He is also an active parishioner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church and volunteers as a youth sports coach at Chappapella Sports Park.

Brad has been married to his college sweetheart, Katie, for 13 years. They are now raising their three children, Olivia (10), Sam (7), and Bennie (4), along with their family dog, Mozzy
